Exciting Update from Steve & Pam
If you haven't heard the exciting news at Écluse yet, we wanted to share the update below from Steve & Pam! After years of hard work, they have officially retired! They built something truly incredibly here at Écluse over the years and have passed the torch to Josh & Gibsey Beckett who will continue the Écluse Tradition with our wonderful team!
Grettings Club Members, Friends & Fans,
It's hard to believe we're approaching our 25th harvest and that it has been 28 years since we planted the vineyard! As we reflect back on the years, we want to thank you for your continuous support and membership of Écluse over the years. Now we have some very exciting news to share! We are ready to pass the torch, put our feet up, relax and retire! We have been fortunate enough to unite with an amazing local and successful winery family to carry on the Écluse Tradition with grand style and dedication. Josh and Gibsey Beckett of Thibido Winery are taking over the helm here at Écluse. What’s even more exciting is that all will remain in place as our ENTIRE incredible Écluse Team will stay on with the Beckett’s as they all go forward together to new horizons!
An added bonus for us is we aren’t disappearing – we are remaining on the property; in the house we built 20 years ago overlooking the vineyard and winery. We are eager to let you know we will be around to chat and get caught up as we share a glass of wine when you visit the winery. You may even see Steve in the tasting room from time to time or you might catch us relaxing on the Terrace!
We can’t be more excited that our wonderful team will be here to continue the tradition of Écluse. Anthony has done an incredible job with the winemaking throughout the years, and we’re thrilled he will be continuing in that role while collaborating with Josh on the wine. Kelly, and her incredible ability to keep all aspects of the business running smoothly, is very excited to work alongside Gibsey! And of course, our wonderful office/tasting room crew – Sandy, Maddie, Martha, Sue, Michael, and Chas – will be here to welcome you back with the warmth and friendship that is the “Écluse Experience.”
We would love to share some insight about this special couple who is excited to continue the legacy of Écluse and why we believe this will only be a benefit and gift to you all – our wonderful wine club members! This is really a homecoming for the Beckett’s. Josh literally learned the ropes of winemaking as a boy here on the property in the little red barn that you see as you drive up our driveway to the winery. Many of you may have heard us talk about the history of the red barn next to the tasting room as the historic Tobias Winery. Josh’s father, Doug Beckett, had partnered with Pat Wheeler back in the 80’s to make wine here at the Tobias Winery. Josh’s parents, Doug and Nancy Beckett then went on to start Peachy Canyon Winery in 1988 and the rest is history.
For Josh and Gibsey Beckett stepping into the leadership roles at Écluse feels like a welcome homecoming. They bring with them decades of experience from growing up in the Peachy Canyon family to building and selling Chronic Cellars and most recently launching Thibido Winery named after Josh’s mother’s family. Their Certified Organic Thibido Vineyard can be seen from the Terrace and truly is our neighbor here on Kiler Canyon. Thibido Winery was launched in 2021 as an expression of that vineyard. To quote Josh and Gibsey, “Écluse isn’t just a winery we admire – it’s where our story started. We’re not changing the heart of Écluse, we’re supporting and growing it thoughtfully.”
We can’t wait for you all to meet Josh & Gibsey and we look forward to many more memories at Écluse!
Cheers,
Steve & Pam
