December 16, 2012

Écluse scores big at this years Affairs of the Vine Cabernet Shootout! Our 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon and 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve were chosen by this year's Cabernet Shootout judging panel as two of the top wines tasted!  This year's scores:

2010 Écluse “Ensemble”

Gold Medal - 4 Hearts, “Love at first sip!”

Female: Pretty nose - chocolate, cherry and spice box - Great! Young but wonderful. Big and rich in the mouth. Chocolate covered cherries and cherry pipe tobacco. Yum!

Male: Roasted coffee beans with chocolate on the nose showing nice new French barrels. Nicely textured mid-palate of black fruit and spice. Length and definition on the finish is lovely.

2010 Écluse Cabernet Sauvignon Lock Vineyard

Gold Medal - 4 Hearts, “Love at first sip!”

Female: Copiously fruited nose yet surprisingly light on its feet. Candied berry, vanilla and a subtle milk chocolate accent. Deliciously quaffable.

Male: Soft black fruit and cookie dough aromas preface the palate of black fruit and spice. Opulent yet balanced. Very nice!

2009 Écluse Cabernet Sauvignon RESERVE Lock Vineyard

Gold Medal - 4 Hearts, “Love at first sip!"

Female: Inky dark in the glass. Floral, warm chocolate and loganberry syrup aromas. Lovely, earthy classic Cabernet. Dark black cherry and plum flavors with black tea notes. The tannins are mellowing out.

Male: Rich and wonderful red and blackberry nose with hints of mocha. Dense and beautiful.
