2005 Écluse “ENSEMBLE”

50% Cabernet Sauvignon – 25% Petit Verdot  -  20% Merlot –  5% Cabernet Franc

This unique handcrafted blend can only be described as a lush, supple, and elegant wine.  The nose invites you to explore the harmony of these Bordeaux varietals dominated by the classic Cabernet Sauvignon black cherry and currant overtone with the additional fruit and spice brought by the other varietals.  Ensemble has a wonderful tannin/acid balance and provides a long, lingering finish.   This wine is an excellent accompaniment to filets, racks of lamb and roasts.  Very approachable now but will definitely age well in the bottle.

2005 Écluse “RENDITION”

46% Syrah – 39% Grenache – 15% Mourvèdre

This is our first effort into the arena of Rhone blends and we are ecstatic with the results!  Anchored with our signature Syrah the addition of Grenache and Mourvèdre to this handcrafted wine brings forth the best of these three varietals.     The dark fruitiness, coffee and hints of chocolate in the  Syrah blends well with the lighter fruit and spice of the Grenache and Mourvèdre.  Extremely approachable now this wine will only improve with age!     A truly marvelous wine to savor for all occasions!

Our 05 Syrah follows in the footsteps of our earlier award winning Syrahs from Lock Vineyard – fantastic!    Beginning with the deep garnet color typical of great Syrahs, the nose of fruit, spice and overtones of chocolate leads you to a wine with layers of complexity and well balanced tannins and acids.    Though still a very young the wine it is very approachable now but will age well over the next seven to ten years.

Only 400 cases of this incredible wine were produced!

What to say about the Écluse Cab other than Wow – this is special!    A classically structured Cab with aromas of blackberry, coffee and chocolate which leads to well balanced tannins,  acid and a wonderful mid-mouth feel.  It is a rich, bold and velvety smooth wine that displays a gorgeous ruby-garnet color.   Fabulous now, think of what you can expect in a couple of years!

2005 Écluse  ZINFANDEL

Our 2004 Zinfandel was so well received that we knew we had to add it to our 2005 vintage!   Exhibiting typical traits of a Westside Paso Robles Zinfandel – rich – full of fruit with jammy characteristics our 2005 Écluse Zinfandel is a big wine but extremely food friendly!  It is a very fruit forward wine with strong notes of blackberries, a balanced acid and tannic structure offering a pleasant mid-palate and long finish.      Enjoy this wine with steaks and/or rich deserts!!

 2007 Écluse “PRELUDE” 

50% Roussanne - 50%Marsanne

Our Prelude can only be described as the perfect marriage of these two wonderful varietals.  The fruity characteristic of the Marsanne with its flowery nose and richness compliment the crisp acidity of the Roussanne.  The wine is dry and displays a lush nutty flavor with hints of almond, melon, herb and floral components.  This wine is a perfect  "Prelude" for your summer bar-b-que or enjoy it  with a cheese platter at the end of a scrumptious meal!
