2005 Écluse RESERVE

Cabernet Sauvignon

Of the six vintages of wine we have produced, we felt that only one merited the designation Reserve; that was the 2005 Lock Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon.

That wine was so extraordinary that we decided to age it an additional twelve months and release or first ever Écluse Reserve.

This wonderful wine can only be described as soft and voluptuous. The classic deep garnet color and inviting nose leads you to a bold, velvety richness that is highlighted by dense, dark fruit and hints of coffee and chocolate

Barrel aging for thirty months, plus an additional seven months in the bottle has produced an elegant, complex wine that is perfectly balanced with flavors that march through to a long, lingering finish.

So supple and lush you will be left wishing for more!

Our “Prelude” brings together the best characteristics of Grenache Blanc, Viognier and Roussanne. It is a wine that challenges the senses because of its complexity. A perfectly layered wine it's aromatic nose leads to a wine that is well balanced and shows wonderful floral and melon components . Enjoy as a Prelude to a special meal or on a wonderful summer afternoon!

What else can we say about this Cabernet other than WOW - this is special! Our classically structured Estate Cab continues to highlight our wonderful fruit. Starting with a gorgeous ruby-garnet color this wine leads to aromas of blackberry, coffee and chocolate . Well balanced tannins and a wonderful mid-mouth feel highlights this rich, bold and velvety smooth wine. In the barrel 18 months this Cab was bottled in May of 2010. Fabulous now, think of what you can expect in a couple of years – if you can wait!

The fabulous nose invites you to explore the harmony of these Bordeaux varietals dominated by our classic Lock Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon. The incredible color leads you to black cherry and currant overtones with the additional fruit and spice and deep violet and floral notes brought to this blend by the Petit Verdot and Merlot. Ensemble has a wonderful tannin/acid balance and with its long, lingering finish leaves you wishing for more!

2008 Écluse ZINFANDEL Lock Vineyard

Our 2008 Zinfandel from Lock Vineyard continues to be a huge favorite of our Ecluse fans and can only be described as fabulous!! Continuing in our tradition of making a food friendly, fruit forward Zinfandel our 2008 Zin exhibits typical traits of a wonderful Westside Paso Robles Zinfandel – rich – full of fruit with jammy characteristics. It is a very fruit forward wine with strong notes of blackberries, a balanced acid and tannic structure which offers a great mid-palate and long finish - it's yummy!!!!!

2008 Écluse IMPROV

60% Syrah 32% Zin 8% Merlot

This wine was a huge hit last year and this year's blend will not disappoint! In keeping with the evolving improvisation of this blend of our wonderful Syrah and Zinfandel we played with the addition of Merlot and loved it as it added a perfect dimension to this wine. A layered medium to full-bodied wine it continues to exhibit a dense ruby/purple color as well as a boatload of blue and black fruits and cassis along with earth and spice! It's fantastic - get out the Bar-B-Que and enjoy!!

Our 2008 "Prelude” brings together the best characteristics of Viognier, Grenache Blanc, Marsanne and Roussanne. The marriage of these four varietals results in a well-balanced wine that shows floral notes, hints of honey and fruit as well as spices and nuts. Aging in neutral barrels for six months allowed the fruit to show through with just a hint of oak producing an elegant complex wine that is perfectly balanced. Enjoy “Prelude” with fresh greens for a starter or with a cheese platter at the end of a scrumptious meal.

Our 06 Syrah continues the tradition of our gorgeous garnet colored, approachable and well balanced Syrah’s. Beginning with the inviting nose of fruit, spice and overtones of chocolate you are lead to a wine that is layered, complex and balanced. With a wonderful mid-mouth feel this wine is extremely smooth and finishes with layers of complexity and well-balanced tannins and acid. Extremely food friendly our Syrah shines with steaks and ribs. Though still a very young it will only get better!

Because of the fabulous response to our first release we can only describe our 2006 Rendition as extraordinary! Anchored with our signature Syrah the addition of Grenache and Mourvèdre to this handcrafted wine brings forth the best of these three varietals. The meaty, dark fruit features and the rich color of the Syrah are married with the brighter fruit and color of the Grenache and spiciness of the Mourvèdre which produced an elegant rich wine that is perfectly balanced. Beautifully approachable from its nose to finish Rendition can only be described as fabulous!
