2010 Viognier
Here at Écluse we get to harvest some of the most exceptional fruit in Paso Robles and this is evident in our inaugural release of our 2010 Viognier. We usually use this varietal for blending in our white Rhone blend, “Prelude”, however we found three standout barrels from three premium vineyards in Paso Robles and decided we had to bottle this special wine on its own. We are delighted to introduce to you our first single varietal Viognier! It is a classically structured Paso Robles Viognier with aromas of guava, peaches, coconut, tropical fruit flavors and a hint of creamy butter with an exceptionally full mid-palate and a long, lingering finish. This truly exceptional wine is perfect to enjoy on its own but is also very food friendly! Enjoy!

2009 Prelude (White Rhone Blend)
“Prelude” continues to be extremely well received and is a wine that challenges the senses because of its complexity. This vintage brings together the best characteristics of Viognier, Roussanne and Grenache Blanc. Our goal in blending this wine was to offer a crisp smooth wine that would be appealing on a hot summer day but also pair well with salads and seafood. It combines the deep color and perfumy nose of the Viognier with the citrus notes of the Grenache Blanc and the more intense aromatics of the Roussanne.

2008 Prelude (White Rhone Blend)
Our “Prelude” brings together the best characteristics of Grenache Blanc, Viognier, Marsanne and Roussanne. It is a wine that challenges the senses because of its complexity. The marriage of these four varietals results in a well balanced wine that shows floral notes, hints of honey and fruit as well as spices and nuts. Enjoy as a Prelude to a special meal or on a wonderful summer afternoon!

Our Lock Vineyard Zinfandel continues to be a huge favorite among our Écluse fans and our 2010 Zin can only be described as phenomenal! Continuing in our tradition of making a food friendly, fruit forward Zinfandel, this vintage exhibits typical traits of a wonderful Westside Paso Zin. Aromas of cherry, cranberry, vanilla, and clove lead you to a perfectly balanced wine with strong notes of blackberries and a long, silky smooth finish. It’s yummy!

2010 "Ensemble"

Using our phenomenal Lock Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon as the foundation for our popular Bordeaux blend, we have once again created an elegant and sophisticated wine. The incredible color and nose invite you to explore the harmony of these rich varietals with black cherry and currant overtones, spice and deep violet and floral notes on the palate. This wine is easily described as silky, supple and lush. Our 2010 “Ensemble” is wonderfully balanced and the long, lingering finish will leave you wishing for more! Very approachable now, but will show off its smooth, complex style beautifully as it ages – if you can wait!

2010 "Improv"
Lock Vineyard
Our 2010 “Improv” is a wonderful eclectic blend of Syrah, Zinfandel, Merlot and Petite Sirah, making this wine truly an improvisation. The addition this year of the Petite Sirah adds aromas of blackberry and black plum. This fabulous blend excites the palate with layers of dark fruit, smoke, caramel and spice and is beautifully balanced with a long lingering finish.

2010 "Rendition"
Our 2010 “Rendition” is our rendition of the traditional Rhone style blend, the “GSM.” Anchored with our wonderful Lock Vineyard Syrah, the addition of the Grenache and the Mourvèdre bring out the best of these three varietals. The meaty, dark fruit characteristics of our Syrah blended with the brighter fruit of the Grenache and spiciness of the Mourvèdre make this wine extraordinary! This elegant, rich wine is perfectly balanced and beautifully approachable from nose to finish. This blend can only be described as fabulous!

2010 Petite Sirah

Here at Écluse we get to harvest some of the most exceptional fruit in Paso Robles and we found that this Petite Sirah from the Reaugh’s Sereno Vista Vineyard exceeded our expectations once again. Therefore we created our second single varietal Petite Sirah! This wine begins with blackberry, black plums and graham cracker with caramel and brown sugar on the mid-palate, leading you to a long, silky smooth finish. Incredibly food friendly and the velvety richness will leave you wishing for more!

2010 Grenache
Lock Vineyard
We usually use Grenache as a blending grape but in 2010 we were able to set aside a small amount that showed such exceptional varietal characteristics, that we decided to bottle it on it’s own, creating only our second single varietal Grenache! This classically structured Grenache is showing exceptionally well! Our 2010 Grenache begins with a wonderfully dark ruby red color and the inviting aromas of cherry, pomegranate, raspberry, vanilla, clove and floral notes lead to a juicy mid-palate and a long lingering finish. Phenomenal on its own and fantastic with food!

2009 "Improv"

This is still one of our most promising blends! To quote the Wine Advocate "The 2009 Improv saturates the palate with layers of dark fruit, smoke, espresso, licorice and spices. It is a big wine with considerable inner sweetness and ripeness, yet it is also beautifully balanced." - It’s fantastic!

2009 "Rendition"
This is a lovely versatile Rhone inspired blend with aromas of plums, earth, lavender, smoke and cedar with a fully plush mid-mouth feel leading to a perfectly balanced tannin and acid finish. Beautifully approachable from its nose to finish Rendition can only be described as fantastic!

2009 Grenache
We usually use Grenache as a blending grape in our wonderful red Rhone blend, “Rendition,” however we were able to set aside a small amount that showed such exceptional varietal characteristics that we decided to bottle it as a single varietal! Our 2009 Grenache is showing remarkably well with aromas of vibrant red fruit and a wonderfully dark ruby color. Classically structured with aromas of rose petals, cherry, pomegranate, raspberry, vanilla and clove with a tart mid-palate leading you to a fabulous finish. Great on its own or as a perfect companion to food, enjoy!

Finis - Port Style Wine (375ml)
Lock Vineyard Zinfandel
Our inaugural release of the “Finis,” our wonderful Estate Zinfandel dessert wine, was released March 2012. When barrel sampling this wine in the Tasting Room, we discovered that this truly was a special wine enjoyed not only by Port connoisseurs but also those who were skeptical of dessert wines. Made from our very own Lock Vineyard Late Harvest Zinfandel, the Solera method of fractional blending produced a velvety smooth, non-vintage dessert wine full of fresh jammy fruit and barrel aged richness with outstanding complexity and depth. This first release is currently three vintages deep, containing our 2008, 2009 and 2010 Lock Vineyard Late Harvest Zin. As translation implies, our Finis is the perfect “finish” to a fabulous meal! Enjoy!
